Brooke Bond is a brand of tea owned by Hindustan Unilever. It has managed to carve a niche for itself in every Indian household. Very few brands enjoy a legacy as long-lasting and illustrious as Brooke Bond.
We partnered with Ogilvy and Mather to create an advertising spot highlighting how sharing a cup of tea leads to sweet family moments and creates stronger familial bonds. The ad film was written by Piyush Pandey, who also lent his voice to the VO.
Everyone has grown up watching Brooke Bond ad films on T.V. It was imperative for us to make sure that this spot added value to the legacy they have created. The film was beautifully shot by Sanu John Varghese on film and exposed later capturing the energy of the ad very well. Mixed-light was used for the ad to emulate the evening sunlight look. The approach used in this ad was to brief the actors about their characters and take a step back. It allowed them to perform naturally in front of the camera.
“Making this advertisement spot was an extremely personal experience for the team,” says Pushi. “Directing brands with legacy is always a rewarding experience,” he says. The advertising spot bought out how sharing a cup of tea can create cherished memories and moments in a family. When it aired, this ad became extremely popular and was known to bring a smile on the viewer’s face every time. The ad was a success and eventually dubbed in multiple languages and aired across regions.
