Coca-Cola | Social Bua
Coca Cola is a leading beverage brand in India and worldwide. With its latest campaign it wanted to show Coca Cola as the perfect ice breaker which makes awkward social situations friendly. We partnered with the agency, McCann Worldgroup to create an advertising spot around the fun moments that bring people closer.

The film portrayed Alia Bhatt as a new bride who had just shifted to her new house. She is unsure of what to offer until the bua (aunt) asks for Coca-Cola. The glass of refreshing Coca Cola completely changes the situation. The soft drink becomes a conversation starter and reiterates how real joys are felt when the conversations aren’t riddled with formality.
The film was made with urban sensibilities while keeping in mind the character’s nuclear family structure. The production design by Sonali Bhatia reflected the details of the character’s personal life. From unopened boxes to a fridge stocked with the bare minimum, the details of the set were used to enhance the look of a house not fully functional. The film was shot by Nikos Andritsakis who added to the style through lighting and composition. For a product shot a refreshing glass of Coca-Cola was mounted on the camera. As it faces the guests the falling sunlight was used to make the product look beautiful and thirst quenching. A second camera unit shot the product shots using acrylic ice cubes with Joel and Gemma, product photography specialists.

The advertising spot highlighted how Coca Cola helps break barriers and removes the awkwardness between family members. The excitement and happiness anchor the moments of togetherness as the tagline reads ‘Coca-Cola pilao, mehmano ko kareeb lao’ (Bring your guests closer with Coca Cola).
